"Hope for the Hood" will center around, training and equipping Youth and Adults to be able to effectively reach people of other ethnic groups, and help them to build loving relationships with people of other races and cultures, in order to reach them for Christ.
The students and their youth leaders will be housed here in the city, and spend their days in the inner city communities of Chicago, working with New Hope, and conducting a number of outreach activities designed to reach people with the Gospel, and develop lasting relationships.
As part of the outreach, each participant will receive 10 hours of intense training in how to reach people cross-culturally, and how to reach people in an urban context. They will also learn the most effective ways to communicate their faith in a way others can relate to.

- The inner city of Chicago has some of the neediest communities in the country. It has an extremely high concentration of poverty and urban plight, where the love of God is needed, to penetrate the darkness.
- Over 50% of the community is under the age of 21 and it has the worst high schools in Country with an extremely high drop out rate.
- The community has the highest reported incidents of teen pregnancy and HIV in the city of Chicago; 50% of the teenage girls become pregnant before the age of 18.
- There are 50,000 of homeless people who live on the streets in the city, and in the parks around the West-side.
- Though the community is blighted, it is not without hope. Many good churches have faithfully given hope to people in need. New Hope Church has ministered to the needs of people on the west-side since 1989 and is coordinating "Hope for the Hood" 2012 to make a dramatic impact for the cause of Jesus, through -out the west-side.
